I. Wilhelm Schlegel’s play Ion: Ein Schauspiel (Hamburg 1803)
Excerpts from the ostensibly anonymous exchanges in 1802 between Caroline, Schelling, and Wilhelm Schlegel concerning the performance of Wilhelm’s play Ion in Weimar on 2 January 1802 and Berlin on 15 May 1802 as played out in the Zeitung für die elegante Welt:

II. Caroline’s and Schelling’s Anonymous Contributions to
the Jenaische Allgemeine Literatur-Zeitung
The original Allgemeine Literatur-Zeitung, which had commenced publication in 1785, moved to Halle in 1804, when Christian Gottfried Schütz, having become soured on the squabbling in Jena, received an appointment there and simply took the newspaper with him. The Weimar minister responsible for the university in Jena then founded a similar journal in 1803 whose first issue appeared in January 1804. The paper was overseen by Goethe and edited by the classical philologist and librarian Heinrich Karl Abraham Eichstädt. Schütz’s journal was thereafter commonly referred to as the Hallesche Allgemeine Literatur-Zeitung (published in Halle between 1804 and 1849; the title page contained the word Halle only as place of publication, not as part of the title), Goethe’s as the Jenaische Allgemeine Literatur-Zeitung (also the title on the title page; it was published until 1848, strictly speaking from 1841 as the Neue Jenaische Allgemeine Literatur-Zeitung).
