Nina, Overture

Nina: “Overture” [*]

Music and Orchestral Score

Chamber_musicians

The following recording presents the entire orchestral overture to Nina; or, The Love Distracted Maid in its original 1786 version by Nicolas Dalayrac. The original score follows below the audio player.

Given the enormous popularity of this play especially ca. 1800, when Auguste was scheduled to perform the title role in a production by the amateur theater in Bamberg, one can reasonably assume that most of the general theater public of which the Jena Romantics were a part (and beyond) was intimately familiar with this music.
